Hares go to a lot of time and trouble to set trails and organise on-ons. Please remember this before you start whingeing. If you have a genuine gripe, bring it up with everyone, don't make snide comments!

Run Report by Duck’s Arse for 29 June. Evening run, Salernes.
From early evening time people started rolling into Wetspot’s at Salernes. (Some people actually rolled in a little too fast for Wetspot’s liking!). I can’t really imagine good old Wetspot as a traffic cop though!

Anyway the pre-run circle got going on time even though many people hadn’t yet arrived. Seems like rather a lot of Hashers don’t actually like running all that much but they love to drink and party.
Firstly our wonderful host Wetspot laid down the rules, what we could do and what we couldn’t do, where we could eat , where we could drink, where we could piss, where we could breathe etc.
Then Prestressed spread a half a bottle of flour all over Wetspot’s driveway to demonstrate hash route-finding, I’m sure that was good for attracting rats to the garden (as if he didn’t already have enough vermin all over his garden that weekend!).

Then we went off for a very pleasant but not too eventful run through the countryside surrounding Salernes, including some very nice sections near the river. Finally we went through the town centre and up to the ruins of the old castle overlooking Salernes for a beer stop with a great view. The drinks had to be carried a short distance from the car and Wetspot managed to drop the whole lot all over the ground which was quite entertaining for those who saw that! Apart from that I don’t remember anything of unusual interest that happened except that there was a certain Australian Hasher who seemed to be photographing or filming just about everything he saw or everything that moved. He even took a picture of Wetspot’s new septic tank! Perhaps he is employed by some Australian secret service or something like that.
Second part was a very short run to return to Wetspot’s.

I can’t list the Down Downs as Sneaky Bastard didn’t give me the list before I left and I haven’t been able to contact him all week. I reckon he might have sneaked off somewhere!
However the circle went on for quite a while, during which a number of late-comers arrived, some with good excuses, others not! The circle finished with a rather cultured opera singing voice giving a demonstration song. This was courtesy of a rather gifted visiting hasher. Well, it made a pleasant change from Padre’s obscene chantings!
